24-ECONOMICAL
HIGH RESOLUTION OBS SYSTEM
MODEL OBS-24
|
|
|
|
The OBS-24 is a complete economical ocean bottom
seismograph for temporary deployment with retrievable applications.
It is a short period seismometer package used in seismic monitoring
and ocean bottom surveys.
It is field proven with 100’s of packages installed over
5 years.
The instrument package includes a triaxial seismometer, hydrophone,
24-bit recorder, batteries, acoustic release system, flasher, and
frame. A radio transponder is not installed in the standard unit
because each radio must have a license according to local laws.
As an option, a flasher with transponder can be added. The package
power consumption is extremely low. The gimbaled seismometer package
can operate up to a +/- 45 degree tilt. The 100Kg weight with sinker
provides excellent seabed coupling and minimizes current drag. The
sphere buoyancy is approximately 5Kg.
Compared to other OBS systems the OBS-24 is lightweight
with small dimensions. The standard instrument package operates
for 30days. Longer duration is available with additional batteries.
The package is forklift compatible.
The instrument package comes standard with an 8 GB flash card for
data storage. Optional 30Gb removable hard disk is available. Optional
freestanding expansion disk reader that connects to a standard PC
USB port is also available.
